微軟最新安全情報報告對比 2011 年第二季多個 Windows 平台病毒感染率，結果顯示 32 位元與 64 位元 Windows 7 SP1 為最安全作業系統。
微軟指出：「最新作業系統與 Service Pack 的感染率持續低於舊版，客戶端與伺服器版本皆然。」Windows 7 與 Windows Server 2008 R2 感染率最低。XP SP3 與 Vista 自 2011 年 2 月後因微軟更新 AutoRun 機制（使其與 Win 7 一致）而顯著下降。
統計數據顯示，64 位元 Windows 7 SP1 感染率僅 1.1，Windows XP SP3 感染率幾乎是其 10 倍。
